Jacob + Lauren went to the same student ministry at Iowa State, but they didn’t meet until halfway through their Junior year. They met because they were placed on the same team of 6 to go on a missions trip to China. Jacob started crushing on Lauren a couple weeks into the two month trip, BUT she completely thought that he liked another girl on their team. When they got back to America, Jacob gave Lauren a letter saying that he liked her a lot and wanted to take her on a date. She was very caught off guard and definitely thought that he meant to give the letter to the other girl. After the initial shock, they started hanging out together, then started going on dates… then just never stopped going on dates.
When Jacob + Lauren reached out to me last year they mentioned that their goal was to have Christ glorified through their wedding day and through their marriage. May 22nd did just that, the Lord was truly the center of their day. Every wedding I am a guest at, or am working at, is an honor for me to attend. It means that I was intentionally chosen + invited to witness wedding vows and the beginning of a couple’s marriage, that’s a huge honor when you truly think about the weight of it. From the message at the ceremony, the worship, the prayers, Jacob + Lauren’s vows, and the speeches at the reception, is was so evident how Jesus loves and works in so many lives. The pure joy that Jacob + Lauren share for each other, their family + friends, and even me as a vendor, just radiates God’s presence in their relationship. It was such an honor to share in their day.
