Des Moines River Center Wedding | Shae + Brent

To know Brent + Shae is to love them. I instantly knew they were my kind of people after reading their “about me” on their inquiry form for wedding photos. They’re laid back, sincere, funny and kind.

“Hi, We’re Shae & Brent. We met at UNI and are both living and working in the Des Moines Metro. We love our black lab pup, Kota, who has given us a new love and appreciation for the outdoors. Our ‘hangout’ spots are Big Creek State Park, where we hike and Brent takes Kota hunting. We go on walks and runs on trails in Ankeny. We love our tradition of ice cream Sundays. With my family we boat regularly in the Ozarks, and we ride Harleys with his family. (Harleys and puppies, a.k.a. the best photo props am I right?!)

When I asked about their love story they simply put:

“Brent’s short version: Shae took advantage of me in Iowa City tailgating.
Shae’s short version: Brent slid in my DMs Now we’re laughing.”

Ok seriously…They met back in college at UNI. They went separate ways after college and happened to be tailgating with mutual friends for a Hawks game and hit it off from there. Shae was living in Cedar Rapids at the time, and Brent was living in Des Moines. He asked her to come visit him the following weekend, they did long distance for 6 months and then Shae moved to Des Moines and the rest is history.

Ever since their engagement session I had looked forward to Brent + Shae’s wedding at the Des Moines River Center. Their entire day was relaxed, full of happy tears, laughs, and the biggest smiles, as they enjoyed celebrating their marriage with family + friends. Oh, and there was ice cream! Did I mention it was the best wedding day with the best couple?!
