Jared + McKayla both grew up in Iowa, but they didn’t not meet until they were both interning in Washington D.C. at the Senate. They Jared and McKayla became good friends that summer and stayed in touch while finishing college. They then went on their first date when Jared visited McKayla in D.C (She was living there at that time) and they spent the weekend together. After that weekend they made an effort to see each other once a month. (Jared was living in Ohio at the time).
Fast forward and McKayla was finishing her last final during her first semester of law school and knew Jared was coming to town so they could pack up and head to Iowa for the holidays. What she didn’t know is that her friends were not taking her out to eat as a finals celebration, but rather a distraction. Jared came to town early, waited in downtown Charlottesville outside of their restaurant. As they finished dinner and walked outside she saw someone out of the corner of her eye walk out from behind the Christmas tree. To her surprise it was Jared. He brought her over, explained why he was there and proposed. McKayla of course said yes!
On March 12, Jared + McKayla got married in Des Moines. They celebrated with their family at friends at the Surety Hotel downtown.
“Your love is your legacy. The things that you do and the way that you love each other is going to live on past your own marriage and touch more lives then you know.”
I loved this message at Jared + McKayla’s wedding and all the words spoken by their family and friends about these two. A day full of so much love and celebration for God for making these two for each other.
